Soňa Vetchá studied piano at the Brno Conservatory with MgA. Dagmar Pančochová and composition with MgA. Pavel Novák – Zemek, Ph.D. She continued her bachelor’s and master’s studies in composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the class of prof. Ivan Kurz. She is currently studying in the 2nd year of doctoral studies with docent Slavomír Hořínka and Ing. Zdeněk Otčenášek, Ph.D.

As part of her doctoral project, she deals with the influence of auditory illusions on the compositional process. In recent years, she has been working on the properties of these psychoacoustic phenomena and their impact onto the listener’s variable subjective perception in most of her compositions.

Since 2017 she has been a member of the international Swedish association of composers and performers called Föreningen Musikspektra T and since 2019 she has been a member of the association of composers Konvergence, Umělecká beseda and the Society of Czech Composers.

As an author, she has performed at several international festivals and concerts of contemporary music (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Slovakia, Belgium, Sweden, the United States, Italy, etc.).

Some of the awards received include, for example, the 1st and 2nd prizes in the GENERATION international composition competition.
