He studied composition at the Prague Conservatory with Eduard Douša and playing the accordion with Ladislav Horák. During his studies he received several awards from accordion competitions in the Czech Republic, Croatia and Slovakia. He continued his studies at the Department of Composition at HAMU in the composition class of Ivana Loudová. During his studies he took part in several composition courses led by Martin Smolka, Yevgeny Irshai, Wolfgang Riehm. He regularly collaborates with composers in creating new compositions for accordion. He summarized his research in the field of new sound and interpretation possibilities of the accordion in the publication New timbre possibilities of the accordion in the context of modern instrumentation. His compositions have been performed at concerts and festivals in the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Croatia, China, Serbia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Japan. In 2014, Radio Beograd broadcast a program dedicated to his accordion work.
Recently, he has been focusing on intermedia projects. He has been collaborating with photographer and designer Michal Hór Horáček and choreographer Dana Pala for several years. Together they created feature-length intermediate works as elementhis! (2011), Materia (2013), Mysticism of Fragrance (2014), Elementhis! Metamorphosis (2016), La Mar (2016), Razzle Dazzle (2018), Golem (2018) and the installation Rozsocháč (2019). In 2013, together with Hanuš Axmann, he created music for the performance Unbearable Weddings (Krum) for the Vinohrady Theater.
His work is dominated by instrumental acoustic works, possibly with electronics. Performers of his compositions include the guitar duo Siempre Nuevo, dulcimer player Daniel Skála, cellist Petr Nouzovský, clarinetists Karel Dohnal, Hanuš Axmann, Anna Paulová, clarinet quartet Cantarina Clarinete, Ensemble MoEns, Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, Ensemble Nipponia, South Bohemian Philharmonic, etc. He regularly collaborates with the Berg Chamber Orchestra and with the ensemble of the Konvergence composers’ association.
He is currently teaching at the Prague Conservatory (accordion department) at the Jan Deyl Conservatory (composition, music theory subjects) and ZUŠ Štefánikova. Since 2015, he has represented the Czech Republic in the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes organization under UNESCO.
