He studied viola (1989 – 1995) and composition (1992 – 1996) at the Prague Conservatory. He continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts – he studied composition in the class of Marek Kopelent (1997 – 2003). During his studies he participated in various composition courses – his teachers were e.g. Zygmunt Krauze, Paul Méfano, Vinko Globokar, Osvaldas Balakauskas or Guy Reibel. At the same time he was gaining a lot of experience in performing contemporary music.
His works include chamber and orchestral pieces, sometimes with vocal or electronic components. His creative background is the Konvergence Chamber Ensemble and the association of composers Konvergence, where he is an artistic director, composer and violist. Thereby, he contributes to the dramaturgy of concert series and concerts at festivals of (not only) contemporary music (ENH Brno 2004, Forfest Kroměříž 2002, Mélos – Etos Bratislava 2003, Unerhörte Musik Berlin 2007, Prague premieres in 2008, the Prague Spring in 2009, and others). As a composer, he also took part in the ISCM World Music Days 2007 in Hong Kong as a representative of the Czech Republic.
The interpreters of his compositions (on the Czech scene and abroad) are various chamber groups (e.g. Luxembourg Sinfonietta, Ensemble Bern Modern, Moens Ensemble, Ensemble Platypus Wien, Yun Trio Prague) and soloists (e.g. cellist Petr Nouzovský, clarinettist Karel Dohnal, vibraphonist Cecille Boiffin, pianists David Kalhous or Iris Gerber) or orchestras (the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra Berg, etc.).
He teaches composition and music theory courses at the Conservatoire Deyl in Prague.
